SaveWMCU Update 11/30/07 -- IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM (top)
Many thanks again for those who have been fasting and praying. I have no question that the corporate prayers of God's people have made differences that we can see and many which we have not yet seen. James 5:16b
A few important issues... 1) ***IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM*** Please contact the President of EFCA regarding your concerns about the pending sale of WMCU. After the time of fasting and prayer yesterday, I was again impressed with the importance of contacting the President of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA), Dr. Hamel. I had previously sent out the info on this in the SaveWMCU update dated 12 November. I have repeated the information again at the end of this letter. Please prayerfully consider contacting him as soon as possible. We are still waiting for the updated instructions to contact the FCC. We now expect to have them by Monday (3rd). Let me comment that that to some, letter writing might not seem like a major deal, but I will remind you that most (if not all) of the New Testament was put together from inspired letters to the early believers! We speak often of the power of the SPOKEN word, but the Bible itself is a witness to the incredible power of the WRITTEN word as well! Your letters (or phone calls) don't have to be eloquent --- but they should be bathed in love, wisdom and prayer. PLEASE SEE THE NOV. 12th UPDATE (below) for the instructions.
2) NEW SaveWMCU.com fliers now available! Please check out the newest SaveWMCU.com fliers (B&W and Color) downloadable from the website. They are set up two/sheet to make duplicating easier. By the way, besides giving out fliers at your church, Bible studies and other Christian gatherings, try handing out some at your Christian bookstore. That is great place to meet Christians from many different churches. Ask the bookstore (and your church)_ for permission to leave a stack of fliers for people to pick up. Some bookstores will even be willing to place a flier in each bag. Also ask about posting one in the window. (Make a larger copy for that purpose.)
4) Check out the FAQ section. To help inform you of the various issues with the effort to Save WMCU, we now have an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section on the SaveWMCU.com website. Please take a few minutes to read this Q&A section. If you have any questions that are not answered there, please feel free to contact us.
Shalom and Happy End of the Hurricane Season! (Last OFFICIAL day is today Nov. 30th. Although we were spared in this area, many regions (especially Central America, Easter Cuba and Hispaniola) did suffer major damages and loss of life. Keep those regions in your prayers as they try and rebuild.

SaveWMCU Update 11/28/07 -- COMMUNITY FAST 11/29 -- Next Town Meeting 12/8 (Kendall) and more (top)
1) COMMUNITY FAST -- Thursday Nov. 29th We are calling another Community Fast (we are generally doing this every other Thursday) for Thursday Nov. 29th. (If you receive this too late to participate on the 29th, please join us when you can.) Please consider joining us for this time of seeking the Lord about the WMCU situation -- even if you are only able to skip one meal or do some sort of partial fast. This will be a critical week when the lawyer will start preparing our rebuttal to the TIU response to our Formal Petition. In addition, this will be a time when we will be requesting additional letters to the FCC. Please take a few minutes to read the FASTING INFO link on the SaveWMCU.com website for a description and focus for the fast.
2) NEXT TOWN MEETING -- a Holiday Town Meeting Dec, 8th 6-8pm Appropriately enough for the Holidays (it will be during Hannukah and with Christmas approaching), this meeting will be held at IMMANUEL Presbyterian Church located at 6605 N. Kendall Dr. (MIami) SATURDAY DEC. 8th 5:30-7:30pm Directions: Directions: East on Kendall Drive from U.S. 1 or from Palmetto (826) Expressway. Church is on Left hand side (North side) just past Ludlam Rd (SW 67th Ave.). Bring some finger food or desserts for a time of fellowship and discussion of the latest developments in the fight to restore WMCU. Please try to invite as many people as possible to this meeting. At the previous Town Meetings, people have been very enthusiastic and eager to take action. We are able to cover much more information at a Town Meeting than on the website. Plus, there is the opportunity to distribute fliers and other materials, have a time for Q&A, etc. Please note -- if you have attended a SaveWMCU Town Meeting already, you might still consider attending. Many of the items are review for the sake of first-time attenders but there are always new items covered about the latest developments.
3) INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW LETTERS TO THE FCC COMING SOON! We should hear from the lawyer this week and will then pass on the instructions for letters to the FCC. These will be VERY important, so please stay tuned for this info on a future update.

SaveWMCU Update 11/25/07 -- TOWN MEETING TUESDAY, NEW FAQ SECTION STATUS OF FCC PETITION, etc. (top)
Greetings in the Lord Jesus our Messiah & King! Please take a few minutes to read this update letter. Thank you again to those who have been supporting this effort in various ways. There is something that everyone can do no matter what your time or resources (See #2 below). This battle will not be won by just hoping or wishing, but by praying and doing as the Lord leads. This is not a quick sprint, but rather a marathon. We do not know how long things will take, but we need to trust Him each step of the way. Gal. 6:9 -- And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
If you have not done so already, please take a moment to read the e-mail update from 11/20 about instructions on writing the President of the EFCA. If you are new to this site, you can get the previous e-mail updates by going to the SaveWMCU.com website and clicking the EMAIL UPDATES ARCHIVE link on the left.
1) SAVEWMCU TOWN MEETING at PINELANDS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH TUES. NOV. 27th 745-915pm: Please try to invite as many people as possible to this meeting. At the previous Town Meetings, people have been very enthusiastic and eager to take action. We are able to cover much more information at a Town Meeting than on the website. Plus, there is the opportunity to distribute fliers and other materials, have a time for Q&A, etc. (Note that if you would like to host one at your church, please contact us.)
SaveWMCU Town Meeting; Pinelands Presbyterian Church (305) 235-1142 10201 Bahia Drive, Cutler Bay (Miami), FL 33189 Directions: Go East on Caribbean Blvd. (SW 200th St.) for ~1 mi. from US 1 or from the Turnpike (SB – Exit 12). & turn left to go north 2 blocks on Blue Water Rd. which ends in the church parking lot.
2) NEW FAQ SECTION OF SAVEWMCU.com WEBSITE: Please note that, thanks to the efforts of several people, we now have an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section on the website. I encourage you to take a few minutes to read through this very helpful material. It is not exhaustive at this point, but it still explains a lot of the basic issues for those who look to the website for info. This feature will be very helpful for you to familiarize yourself with the various aspects of the situation so that you can better share about it with others. Especially note the answer to the last FAQ -- What can I do to help? Read this one prayerfully and let the Lord lead you in what He would have you to do. You will see from the list there, that there is some way that each person can help.
3) FCC letter writing instructions: This has been delayed a few more days. TIU has already responded to our Petition before the FCC. Our lawyer was to finish our response by Wednesday the 28th and he would have wanted our additional letters to the FCC around that time. However, due to some extenuating circumstances, the lawyer was granted an extra week so the deadline for our reply is now Dec. 5th. We hope to have further instructions from the lawyer on suggestions for letter writing later this week.
Just a reminder again -- WMCU 89.7 Spirit FM has not moved to 1080 AM, which is now calling itself the New WMCU. 1080 AM has simply changed their call letters to WMCU (AM). They are not affiliated in any way with the former WMCU 89.7 Spirit FM. For additional details, see the info on our CHRISTIAN STATIONS or FAQ links on the SaveWMCU.com website.
Thank you for continuing to spread the word about our efforts and the website. There are still so many former listeners who need to know that it is not to late to SAVE WMCU.

SaveWMCU Update 11/20/07 -- Suggested letter to President of EFCA (top)
PLEASE READ ON FOR SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR LETTER WRITING!
Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving! We have MUCH to be thankful for -- the obvious blessings, and even the trials -- since God has promised that He is able to make all things work together for good to these that love Him and are called according to His purposes. I truly believe that God is working the WMCU situation together for our good. It is important for us to TRUST Him and OBEY Him in the midst of our trials and we will see His loving hand in control.
By the way, some of you who have been listening to 89.7 FM might have noticed that some of their programs (some classical music programs and especially news broadcasts) are identical to what was already carried on WLRN (NPR-- 91.3 FM).
I have attached below a letter sent out by the President of the EFCA (Evangelical Free Church of America), the organization that TIU (Trinity International University) is a part of and through whom its pastors are ordained. Although the release was issued by TIU (the organization that has entered into a contract for the sale of WMCU), because the letter was sent out by the President of the EFCA, I think it would be appropriate for people to consider writing to him directly for him to hear our feelings about this situation. I think many of you agree that this has been a major blemish on the reputation of TIU and therefore also on EFCA if they support this action. Please consider contacting the President -- regular mail, e-mail or phone. (Also consider sending us a copy by e-mail (to savewmcu897@bellsouth.net) or regular mail (SaveWMCU.com, 19701 SW 127th Ave., Miami, FL 33177). It would be helpful to label the correspondence to us as: Letter to EFCA President.
PLEASE BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL IN THE WRITING OF YOUR LETTER. With prayer use wisdom, love and patience.
James 1:19-20 -- Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
James 3:17 -- But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (Read James 3:13-18)
PLEASE REMEMBER -- to our knowledge, Dr. Hamel, the EFCA President, was NOT responsible for the decision to sign the contract with APMG/MPR for the sale of WMCU. We are contacting him because it appears that he supports TIU's decision on this issue and he currently presides over EFCA.
I would suggest emphasizing how God has used WMCU in your life and the lives of others you know, the degree of the influence of this station for good (prisons, etc.) and the impact of its loss, the issue of feeling defrauded since the money was solicited for a specific purpose and that purpose has been changed, etc. Consider addressing their comments (see the letter below) that the money will be used for a good purpose -- to train ministers at EFCA. (That brings little comfort to me since the money was NOT solicited for that purpose.) Our money did not just purchase air time and operating expenses, it also purchased ALL of the equipment used by the station, the equipment now being used to broadcast MPR's programs. (It is our understanding that all of that equipment is going to be given over to the new owners!)
I would suggest looking at our new FAQ page (available later today or early tomorrow) and to reread the Larry Poland letter and Good News article (links available on our homepage). Let the Lord lead you. These letters could make a difference. Maybe EFCA would even consider sending a committee to S. FL to investigate this situation. I know of people who are no longer considering attending TIU because of what was done. Sadly, I believe this trend will continue.
We will also shortly be sending out details on writing the FCC. Keep checking the website or these e-mail updates for info.
THANK you to everyone of you that has helped this cause in various ways. This is not a fast sprint but rather a marathon. We need to hang in there and keep working on this as the Lord leads!
Just a reminder -- WMCU 89.7 Spirit FM has not moved to 1080 AM. 1080 AM has simply changed their call letters to WMCU (AM). For additional details, see the info on our CHRISTIAN STATIONS link on the SaveWMCU.com website.
Please keep spreading the word about our efforts and the website. There are still many former listeners who need to know.
Shalom, Stan, SaveWMCU.com
====================================
Here is the contact info for the EFCA President:
Dr. William J. Hamel
The Evangelical Free Church Of America, 901 East 78th Street , Minneapolis, MN 55420-1300
Phone: (952) 853-8492, e-mail: president@efca.org
CONTACT INFO FOR EFCA: (800) 745-2202, (952) 854-1300, efca.org
Here is the letter sent out by Dr. Hamel to EFCA ministers. Notice how he says this is a painful loss to thousands of listeners. A loss caused by them! Also, the listening audience was around 150,000! Also, the fact that they are praying for us is little consolation, since again, they are the ones that for the sake of money (see the Dr. Larry Poland letter), caused the damage.
EFCA UPDATE SPECIAL BROADCAST Trinity International University Sells WMCU-FM, November 13, 2007 Many of you are aware that Trinity International University has sold their radio station in Miami, FL. The following is a release from TIU giving information regarding this sale.
William J. Hamel, President, EFCA
TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY SELLS WMCU-FM
You may know that Trinity International University’s main campus is in Deerfield, Illinois, but did you know that the university also has campuses in South Chicago, California, and South Florida? In addition to providing academic programs in South Florida, Trinity’s affiliate, Trinity International Foundation, has also owned and managed WMCU 89.7 Spirit FM, a Christian radio station serving the greater Miami area. In late September, Trinity agreed to sell the radio station for $20 million to a nonprofit company that plans to broadcast classical music. Pending approval by the FCC, the sale should be complete in the next few months. The decision to sell WMCU was made after much prayer and deliberation. The university sought to sell WMCU to a Christian organization and attempted without success to do so with several different organizations before the current buyer came forward. As a result of the WMCU sale, the university’s endowment will be greatly increased along with Trinity's ability to achieve its primary mission of providing distinctly Christian academic programs with excellence. The decision to sell WMCU allows Trinity to better serve the core educational needs of its primary constituents - the current and future students of the university. Trinity extends deep gratitude to the WMCU staff for their years of ministry and prays for God's grace on them as they enter a new chapter in their lives. Trinity also prays for the other Christian radio stations in South Florida -- that they will fill the void created by the loss of WMCU. This has been a painful loss for thousands of faithful listeners. In seeking to stop the sale, some listeners have petitioned the FCC, and others have even filed a lawsuit against Trinity, the EFCA, and others. Please ask that God will greatly bless the South Florida community through Trinity's adult education, graduate and seminary programs. If you have questions about Trinity International University, WMCU, or the sale of the station, please e-mail SpiritFM@tiu.edu.

2) Thankfully, the FORMAL PETITION* against the proposed sale was filed last Friday (the 2nd) with the FCC. I believe our FCC lawyer (who worked diligently on this all week) put together an excellent package. He hit several important key issues (violations) and we shall see how the FCC responds. THANK YOU to all who responded to the various urgent needs and helped us with documentation. Also, thank you to those who were willing to provide documents but I wasn't able to get back to them in time due to the workload we experienced with this. And finally, thank you to those who prayed for this important step and for those who have given financially.
3) REMEMBER -- PLEASE HOLD OFF ON WRITING OR SENDING ANY MORE LETTERS TO THE FCC AT THIS TIME! (See website for more info.) SaveWMCU Update 11/2/07 -- PRAYER REQUESTED, 1080 AM comments, Community Calendar now available... (top)
Just a few quick items --
1) For those who receive this in the next couple of hours -- I am requesting
prayer for the FCC Lawyer, as well of those of us who are assisting him in
collecting materials, for wisdom, focus, efficiency, etc. as the final Petition
package (protesting the transfer of the WMCU license) is put together and
delivered to the FCC by 7PM TONIGHT! Thank you to those who completed
affidavits and helped in other ways (including prayer and donations).
2) WMCU-AM (1080-AM) is NOT a replacement for WMCU-FM (89.7 Spirit FM) BECAUSE
WE KEEP GETTING QUESTION ABOUT THIS ISSUE -- I AM REPEATING A NOTE SENT OUT DAYS
AGO --
WKAT (1360 AM), a commercial Christian station run by Salem communications,
recently acquired a new high powered (50,000 W) AM transmitter at 1080 AM
frequency. Yesterday, the 25th, they changed the call letters (for 1080AM) to
WMCU. These were AM call letters that had actually been available for some
time. They are now calling themselves the "New WMCU". It is ironic, since
Steve James, a former Station Manager for WMCU-FM, is now at 1080-AM. We are
glad for their increased signal (they have lots of excellent Christian
programming, along with various commercial programs), but we want people to
realize that their station is not a "replacement" for WMCU-FM. They are not
affiliated in any way with what used to be WMCU-FM. They just simply changed
their call letters -- nothing more. In other words, their new name does not in
any way negate our efforts to try and return Christian programming to 89.7 FM --
which has a 100,000W FM transmitter that reached from Key West to West Palm and
also into some of the Caribbean (including Cuba). You can check the
SaveWMCU.com website for a list of many of the Christian stations in SE Florida.
Go to the "CHRISTIAN STATIONS" link.
3) I just found out that the Good News Magazine (newspaper), which came out Nov.
1st, featured the WMCU article on the front page! That means this weekend,
probably thousands of people will be getting informed about what is happening
and about SaveWMCU.com and our efforts. Please pray for MANY hearts to be
stirred with this burden and be moved to action!
4) REMEMBER -- PLEASE HOLD OFF ON WRITING OR SENDING ANY MORE LETTERS TO THE FCC
AT THIS TIME! (See website for more info.)
THE DEADLINE FOR FORMAL FILING IS
NOV. 2nd but because of all of the Formal Petitions being filed, we estimate we
will have at least an additonal 2 weeks up to as long as 2 months for sending
additional informal letters.
5) REMINDER -- town meeting next week on Thursday Nov. 8th, 7:45-9:15pm at
Pinelands Presbyterian Church.
6) The COMMUNITY CALENDAR is adding events one by one. (It is starting small but
it will grow in the weeks to come.) I hope this feature on the SaveWCMU.com
website will be helpful to you. See the website for details in sending
announcements to us.
Shalom,
Stan

SaveWMCU Update 11/1/07 -- URGENT ACTION ITEMS Former WMCU donors needed, Community Calendar... (top)
TODAY'S ITEMS --
1) As mentioned in the last e-mail, we have a highly experienced and respected
FCC lawyer who is putting together our formal petition (which must be filed by
Nov. 2nd) to deny the sale of WMCU. This is not a lawsuit against the sellers,
but a petition to the FCC. The legal costs are very reasonable and we would
ask you to prayerfully consider making a donation to SaveWMCU.com at this time
to help with these costs. Every donation large and small is appreciated.
2) ******URGENT ACTION ITEM***** WE STILL NEED SOME PAST WMCU DONORS TO
VOLUNTEER TO COMPLETE AFFIDAVITS FOR THE PETITION (see #3).
We already have
some but would like to get some more of the larger donors (greater than
$1000/year) who feel that it was not appropriate what was done in the pending
sale of WMCU, but if you have given for at least several years in any amount and
you would like to fill one out as well, please contact us. (The form calls for
your estimated lifetime contribution.) Basically, we are looking for those who
feel that they were contributing to the ministry of Christian radio in this area
(not just sending donations so that THEY could hear Christian radio). The donor
would simply fill out an affidavit about their donations that would be included
with the filing. If you are such a donor or know of someone like this, please
contact us RIGHT AWAY -- e-mail us at . We need to
complete this step by Friday morning or early afternoon.
3) Good News Magazine (newspaper) comes out today (in Broward) with a major
article on WMCU and the efforts to save it. (You can also view the article
online via our website or at goodnewsfl.org.) Also, if you have not done so
already, PLEASE check out the Open Letter from Dr. Larry Poland.
4) PLEASE HOLD OFF ON WRITING OR SENDING ANY MORE LETTERS TO THE FCC AT THIS
TIME! WE ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE THE INSTRUCTIONS SOMEWHAT BASED ON INFORMATION WE
HAVE RECEIVED FROM OUR FCC LAWYER ON MAKING THE LETTERS MORE EFFECTIVE. As for
those who already wrote, every letter counts. Those letters were still
important. NOTE THAT THE FCC CAN RECEIVE INFORMAL LETTERS OF PETITION AT ANY
TIME UNTIL THE CASE IS DECIDED. THE DEADLINE FOR FORMAL FILING IS NOV. 2nd.
Because of all of the Formal Petitions being filed, we estimate we will have at
least an additonal 2 weeks up to as long as 2 months for sending additional
informal letters.
5) COMMUNITY CALENDAR NOW AVAILABLE AT SAVEWMCU.COM -- NOTE THE NEW LINK FOR THE
SAVEWMCU.com COMMUNITY EVENTS/CALENDAR. Check it now to stay informed. (Note
one VERY major event coming Nov. 6th!) This was a special feature from WMCU
Spirit-FM that was greatly missed. We are now accepting announcements. If you
have a special event that you would like us to post on our calendar, e-mail it
to us at: savewmcu897@bellsouth.net. (PLEASE put the words COMMUNITY CALENDAR
in the subject line!) See the website for further details. Please spread the
word about this new feature to others. There is not much on it yet, but we
pray it will grow as the word spreads.
6) REMINDER -- town meeting next week on Thursday Nov. 8th, 7:45-9:15pm at
Pinelands Presbyterian Church (10201 Bahia Drive, Cutler Bay (Miami) (305)
235-1142).We are able to cover much more information at a Town Meeting than on
the website. Plus, there is the opportunity to pass out fliers and other
materials, have a time for Q&A, etc. Try and get the word out in your church
this weekend!
If you are new to this mailing list, please consider checking out the "PREVIOUS
E-MAILS" link on the website. That will fill you in on the many things that
have been happening with our efforts to "Save" WMCU. The more you are informed,
the more you can help and get others to help as well!
PLEASE keep helping to spread the word about SaveWMCU.com. We keep running into
so many people that are misinformed about the situation with WMCU. Many think
it went off the air for financial reasons. (Quite the opposite -- it was doing
great financially.) And most think the sale is a done deal -- especially since
the new station (called WKCP) is already broadcasting classical music. But the
sale is definitely not final. In fact, many letters as well as formal petitions
are being filed with the FCC protesting the sale.
Thank you for everyone's prayers and support! Many things are happening and we
are grateful for His leading and grace!
Shalom,
Stan

SaveWMCU Update 10/30/07 -- URGENT ACTION ITEMS, Next Town Meeting, Community Calendar.. (top)
PLEASE keep helping to spread the word about SaveWMCU.com. We keep running into so many people that are misinformed about the situation with WMCU. Many think it went off the air for financial reasons. (Quite the opposite -- it was doing great financially.) And most think the sale is a done deal -- especially since the new station (called WKCP) is already broadcasting classical music. But the sale is definitely not final. In fact, many letters as well as formal petitions are being filed with the FCC protesting the sale. (See item #3 below.)
1) We will be having another town meeting next week on Thursday Nov. 8th, 7:45-9:15pm at Pinelands Presbyterian Church in Miami. People have been very enthusiastic at these meetings and eager to take action. We are able to cover much more information at a Town Meeting than on the website. Plus, there is the opportunity to pass out fliers and other materials, have a time for Q&A, etc.
Pinelands Presbyterian Church
10201 Bahia Drive, Cutler Bay (Miami)
(305) 235-1142
Thursday, Nov. 8th, 7:30-9:15pm.
2) If you have not done so already, PLEASE check out the Open Letter from Dr. Larry Poland and the article on WMCU from Good News. Links to both of these are available on our website. Also, there are adjusted instructions for sending letters to the FCC. The date has been extended. See the details on the website.
3) After much prayer and searching, SaveWMCU has acquired the services of a highly respected FCC lawyer. He will be putting together our formal petition to deny the sale of WMCU. This is not a lawsuit against the sellers, but a petition to the FCC. Your letters are still helpful, but it is this petition that could have the most weight in this step. Although other individuals and groups have also filed formal petitions, we felt that putting one together with a competent FCC lawyer from our group was necessary at this time as well. The legal costs are reasonable and we would ask you to prayerfully consider making a donation to SaveWMCU.com to help with these costs. Every donation large and small is appreciated. (Instructions on how to donate are available on the website.) PRAYERS are GREATLY appreciated for this vital step of filing with the FCC which must be completed THIS WEEK!
4) ******URGENT ACTION ITEM***** WE NEED SOME PAST WMCU DONORS TO VOLUNTEER TO COMPLETE AFFIDAVITS FOR THE PETITION (see #3). The lawyer needs some of the larger donors (greater than $1000/year) who feel that it was not appropriate what was done in the pending sale of WMCU. Basically, we are looking for those who feel that they were contributing to the ministry of Christian radio in this area (not just sending donations so that THEY could hear Christian radio). The donor would simply fill out an affidavit about their donations that would be included with the filing. If you are such a donor or know of someone like this, please contact us RIGHT AWAY -- e-mail us at . This step needs to be completed within the next day (or possibly 1 1/2 days). We don't need a large number of these -- even around five will do. (Like David's FIVE SMOOTH STONES.) But more would be helpful as well.
5) COMMUNITY CALENDAR SOON AVAILABLE AT SAVEWMCU.COM -- We are starting to collect announcements for a Community Calendar for our website. This was one of the special features of WMCU and is greatly missed. If you have a special event that you would like us to post on our calendar, e-mail it to us at . Be sure to include the name of your church or organization, name of event, date, time, location, cost (if any), contact info (preferably phone number and website), and a brief description of the event (no more than several lines or a short paragraph). If possible, we will include your description exactly as you write it. We reserve the right to edit the descriptions or refuse to post events we feel are inappropriate. We will try and post events as soon as possible (sometimes the day we receive them), but try to give us at least a week lead time for the posting. As soon as it is available you will see the link on the website. Please spread the word about this new feature to others.
6) LAST BUT NOT LEAST -- a word about TS NOEL.
For SE FL, TS NOEL is on many people's minds. Since I used to give hurricane updates for the station, let me just mention a few words here about the storm. Simply, this is a VERY difficult situation to forecast -- both for track and intensity. At the worst, SE FL cold be impacted by a Cat 1 hurricane. I think this is unlikely at this time, but still possible. If we get NOEL as a tropical storm or strong depression, we could still get a large amount of rain and gale force winds and even some hurricane force gusts. If it stays to the east of us as currently forecast, we could still get a decent amount of rain (and the ground is pretty wet already) and somewhat more wind than we are getting now. The main message here though needs to be -- follow the updates from NHC -- especially on Wednesday.
Thank you for everyone's prayers and support! Many things are happening and we are grateful for His leading and grace!
Shalom, Stan, SaveWMCU.com

SaveWMCU Daily Update 10/26/07 -- Town meeting, Concert, a "New WMCU" and other news. (top)
Greetings. Thank you again to those who have taken the time to fill out your contact information so that you can receive the SaveWMCU e-mail updates. Please keep spreading the word to others about our effort and encouraging them to sign up as well. Also, THANK YOU to the many believers who joined in the corporate fast on the 25th. We are continuing to see many things happen and are expecting to se God continue to lead and guide and to move in this situation. (Those new to the list can find out about our fasts on the website.) We really don't want to overcome people with e-mails, but at this point, so much s happening that we will usually be sending out daily updates. Please just take a few moments to glance over the information and even pass it on to others if you feel it is appropriate. Do also remember word of mouth. There are still many people out there who do not have regular computer and/or e-mail access. 1) REMINDER -- SaveWMCU Town meeting At Wayside Baptist Saturday Oct. 27th 9:30 am MEETING DATE/TIME: Sat., Oct. 27th, 9:30 am till ~11:30 am LOCATION: Wayside Baptist Church Room A201 (1st room on the left at the top of the stairs by the NORTH entrance) 7701 SW 98 Street (SW 98th St. just west of U.S. 1) Miami, FL 2) Downloadable (.jpg) SaveWMCU.com flier available on website. Just go to the home page for the link. E-mail it to others, print copies to hand out, enlarge to use as posters, etc. 3) WMCU-AM (1080-AM) is NOT a replacement for WMCU-FM (89.7 Spirit FM! WKAT (1360 AM), a commercial Christian station run by Salem communications, recently acquired a new high powered (50,000 W) AM transmitter at 1080 AM frequency. Yesterday, the 25th, they changed the call letters (for 1080AM) to WMCU. These were AM call letters that had actually been available for some time. They are now calling themselves the "New WMCU". It is ironic, since Steve James, a former Station Manager for WMCU-FM, is now at 1080-AM. We are glad for their increased signal (they have lots of excellent Christian programming, along with various commercial programs), but we want people to realize that their station is not a "replacement" for WMCU-FM. They are not affiliated in any way with what used to be WMCU-FM. In other words, their new name does not in any way negate our efforts to try and return Christian programming to 89.7 FM -- which has a 100,000W FM transmitter that reached from Key West to West Palm and also into some of the Caribbean (including Cuba). You can check the SaveWMCU.com website for a list of many of the Christian stations in SE Florida. Go to the "CHRISTIAN STATIONS" link. 4) ***SaveWMCU Outreach opportunity: 2007 "PRAIZE" FEST--Sat. Oct. 27th at James L. Knight Center (7pm) For those who are attending the concert or want to go just to pass out fliers. Print your own copies (see (2)) or pick some up at the town meeting Saturday morning (see (1)). If you would like to get with a group of people to do this, e-mail us as soon as possible Saturday (savewmcu897@bellsouth.net) with your phone number and we will try and put you in contact with someone, or call Tameisha at 954-732-7626. (She will be handing out fliers starting at ~6pm.) If not, feel free to do it on your own. We encourage asking three basic questions when handing out fliers: 1. Did you used to be a listener to WMCU Spirit-FM. 2. Did you hear what happened (or -- are you upset about what happened to it)? 3. Would you like to do something about it? If they want to make a difference, then give them the flier (and extras if they are willing to pass out some to others at the concert or to friends later) and encourage them to be sure to fill in their contact info to receive these updates. I would NOT encourage just giving the fliers to people without saying anything. Give them to people that do care about the ministry of WMCU 89.7 FM. 5) Remember that donations are now accepted on the SaveWMCU website. SaveWMCU does have various financial needs associated with this effort. The current and possible future needs and how funds will be used are now given in detail on the website. Those who would like to contribute financially to the efforts of SaveWMCU.com can now do so online. We have also included instructions for those who want to mail donations. Go to our website and click the link for "DONATING TO SAVEWMCU". The direct link for that is: http://www.savewmcu.com/index.cfm?page=7

SaveWMCU Update 10/17/07 -- SaveWMCU story tonight on WRMB + Town meeting Sat. Oct. 20th (top)
WRMB STORY ON SaveWMCU tonight at 538pm! I was just interviewed by WRMB (89.3 FM -- Boyton Beach FL). The station can be heard in Broward and Palm each and in some parts of Dade. (It can be heard on the web at http://www.mbn.org.) THE INTERVIEW WILL BE FEATURED AS PART OF PRIME TIME AMERICA (LOCAL) TONIGHT WEDNESDAY THE 17TH AT 538pm. (Lasts ~7-10 min.) It is exciting that the folks at WRMB are standing together with us in unity on this! WAFG (90.3FM Ft. Lauderdale) has also been telling people about our cause. I know short notice, but some things are happening fast with this. (We have also done interviews with "Good News" newspaper (Broward -- published by Calvary). That article will be featured in their November edition. 2) SaveWMCU Town meeting Saturday Oct. 20th. Also, we will be sending out info later (and posting it on our site) about a town meeting this Saturday morning (Oct. 20th) at Wayside Baptist Church (as part of the Christian Coalition meeting) where we will present what is happening with SaveWMCU, have a time for Q&A, etc.

SaveWMCU Update 10/14/07 -- Help needed to hand out fliers at Newsboys Concert TONIGHT (top)
NOTE -- this effort was VERY successful. We handed out over 3500 fliers!] All,Sorry for the short notice on this -- but perhaps some of you might get this in time and be able to help!TONIGHT (Sunday Oct. 14th) at 7pm, the Newsboys will be in concert at the Bank United Center. (On U of M campus right across from the University Metrorail station.) We are looking for volunteers to help pass out fliers about SaveWMCU.com to people coming to the concert. If you are available, meet us in front of the Metrorail station between 530-6pm if possible to pick up fliers. (We will try and have someone there even later as well.) We don't have explicit permission to pass out fliers on the campus, but we are certainly allowed to pass them out on the public sidewalks, etc. Also, if you are attending the concert, you can bring a small stack inside and distribute them to people in your area. Obviously, we need to use discretion. You can just hand them out, but I suggest asking people:1) "Did you used to listen to WMCU?"2) "Do you know what happened with WMCU?" (This is where people show how upset they are about the sale!)3) "Do you want to help do something about it" (Let them know there is a group doing something about it!)With these questions, you are able to find people who are really interested. Feel free to give a small stack to those who are interested in giving them to others -- at the concert, or even at their church or workplace. Just keep urging everyone to PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. Ask them to go to the website and fill out the contact info as you did.

SaveWMCU Update 10/10/07 -- E-mail to forward to others! (top)
Greetings! Many of you have written asking what you could do to help. Our GREATEST need (besides PRAYER) continues to be spreading the word -- getting people on the website to become informed, and then filling out the Contact Form. When I speak with people, if they are interested, I just take their name, phone # and e-mail and offer to enter their info myself.
IF EVERYONE ON OUR E-MAIL LIST (now almost 300) WOULD JUST GET THE WORD OUT TO AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE, WE COULD HAVE OVER 1000 PEOPLE IN TOUCH WITH THIS.
(By the way -- we have had ~1300 hits on the website in just over a week.) To help in these efforts -- the following is something that would be appropriate to forward as an e-mail to everyone you can. It can also be print as a handout as well.Thank you again for your efforts. ======================================
Subject: SaveWMCU.com Website now online! Help restore our 100,000 Watt Christian station to the Air!
On Sunday, Sept. 30th, WMCU (89.7FM, Spirit FM) went off the air afterfaithfully serving the South Florida community for several decades. This station, which had grown to be one of the top 10 Christian stations in the country, was purchased by a secular public radio network. The purchase price --.$20M -- was given to TIU in Deerfield, IL, even though WMCU had been supported totally by the donations of its faithful listeners in S. FL.
HOWEVER, THE DEAL IS NOT FINAL UNTIL THE FCC APPROVES IT. THE FCC PROCESS IS HAPPENING NOW!
Note that although there are several other Christian stations in SE Florida, there are many areas that are not covered by any station with programming similar to WMCU. WMCU was not just a station with music and programs that ministered and spiritually fed the hearers, but it was also very much a station that tied our diverse Christian community together.
A website has been established for the listeners and supporters of WMCU-- 89.7 FM to provide information on efforts to somehow rekindle this powerful lighthouse for S Florida. The site address for the Save WMCU effort is: SaveWMCU.com
Be sure to complete the Contact Form so that you can receive important e-mail updates. Please check out the site and SPREAD THE WORD -- even with people outside of the SE FL area. We welcome the prayers and support of Christians everywhere. The name WMCU stood for Miami Christian University -- the founding group of WMCU. In this present hour, those letters could stand for:
WE are MIAMI CHRISTIANS UNITED! -- WMCU! "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shalllift up a standard against him." (Is. 59:19b)

SaveWMCU Update 10/5/07 -- Please spread the word + Results from fasting (top)
All, THANK YOU to those who took time to seek God in fasting and prayer or even just prayer. We ARE seeing the hand of God move. Sometime on Thursday (the fast day) several very significant divine appointments took place and some key people started to get involved with the Save WMCU effort that could make a real difference. We are very excited!THIS WEEKEND -- PLEASE do everything you can to spread the word to your church and friends about SaveWMCU897.org. Send e-mails, make simple fliers, etc. Ask for announcements in your church, etc. I hope to make some fliers available on the website soon, but for now you just need to write something like:"On Sept. 30th, the Christian station WMCU (89.7 Spirit FM), one of the top 10 Christian stations in the country, went off the air -- sold to a secular company. However, the deal is not final until the FCC approves it. Join the grassroots effort to restore our Christian station by going to SaveWMCU897.org. And please be sure to fill in the Contact Form on the website."Edit the above however you wish, or simply write something like:"Join the fight to restore WMCU, our Christian station, by going to SaveWMCU897.org."I ask almost everyone I meet if they were a WMCU listener. (There are a LOT of them out there!) If they are, I give them the info and ask them to go to the website and spread the word about it to others.Have a great weekend.Shalom

SaveWMCU Update 10/2/07 (top)
Thank you for visiting the Save WMCU site: churchwebsites.com/wmcu.Also, thank you for registering your contact info so that we can send updates when appropriate. PLEASE continue to spread the word to everyone you know about this effort -- especially to your Pastors and leaders so that they can then announce it and place it on their websites and in the bulletin. Please spread the word to people from other churches as well. Encourage everyone to register their contact info as well. That makes it much easier for us to communicate with a large number of people at once. Feel free to post comments on the forum we have created. At this point, we especially want to hear how the station has touched you and your family through the years and how you feel about it going off the air.I want you to know that one of the impacts of the sale of WMCU that grieves me the most is that I have now heard that WMCU was the main lifeline to many of the prisoners in jails in this area (especially central and south Dade). I just met a women on the bus this morning whose uncle is in prison and he told her that he listened regularly to WMCU. Our pastor told us of a man in prison that he ministers to that also depends on WMCU for encouragement. One prisoner has been so touched that he was determined to support WMCU and sent them some stamps since that was all he could do! I'm sure there are many more stories of prisoners lives that have been touched through that station. Jesus spoke very strongly about reaching out to those in prison (see Matt. 25:31-46). If nothing else, let us do this for them! This is our first attempt to send a group e-mail. In just a couple of days, we have had over 300 visitors to the site! This effort will continue to grow by you helping to spread the word. We hope that later today some important action items will be posted (we will try and send an alert as well) on contacting the FCC, etc.Continue to pray -- "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth MUCH!" (James 5:16b)
